And for us, fulfillment comes from grappling with really hard problems and creating beautiful solutions. It comes from being recognized and rewarded when the problems we solve have massive impact. It comes from laughing with, learning from, and fighting alongside other Outstanding People. Most importantly, it comes from doing these things in an environment where the definition of ‘Excellence’ is mutually agreed to and upheld by everyone.
That’s what values really are: the qualities and behaviors we agree define Excellence. And, as the header indicates, these values add up to form a contract; like any contract, it’s only as meaningful as our commitment to upholding it. We agree that these values will be the basis for who we hire, promote and let go; that they’ll serve as a north star when we need help making decisions, or adjudicating debates; and that they’ll be the lens through which we give and receive feedback. They’re both how we are today, and how we aspire to be. All told, this ‘values contract’ - our definition of Excellence - is the bedrock for everything we do from here. This is what it means to “be a Neon”.
It’s worth noting that these values would be the same whether we were building the future of gaming commerce, or a lemonade stand.
